16 Nov November Meeting Recap
November Recap – Spoiler alert: It was awesome!
Thanks everyone for showing up! We had our largest crowd since we started in August and Lynda dropped some major knowledge on all of us.
Lynda Stein used the example of the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” to show how every scenehas a beginning, middle, and end and how we can get clues about a character’s secret. The character’s secret helps make the performance come alive. If that doesn’t sound like it makes sense then, well you should have been there! Later she did a fun workshop with volunteers Omar and William and gave them a couple scenes to perform.
Then we had the film showcase and we had four films.
First we had William Bristol’s short film on the dedication it takes to perform ballet. Check it out here: https://vimeo.com/100397727
Next Josue “Chechos” Toruno represented his friend Kevin Zapata’s promo for “Fountain Life” Check it out here:https://www.dropbox.com/s/lsiz4evnpnqr7e7/Fountain%20of%20Life%20promo%202.mp4?dl=0
Then we had proof that Derek O’Donnell has more fun than any of us when he showed his mini music doc about his weekends at his friend’s house. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5TyefPL7KOwZEJlMnJseWZVRDA/view?usp=sharing
Last but not least Omar “The Duderino” Torres showed his short about Gossip that made as a personal challenge to himself to make a film in 3 days. It features one of the best actors in the world. 🙂 Awkward update: Omar wanted to work on the short a little more and won’t send me a link! If you want to see Omar’s film or you want to give him a word of encouragement, email him at email@example.com :))
Omar left us with a filmmaker challenge: Make a film by the next meet-up that has to deal with the issue of “lust”.
I’m looking forward to what you crazy people will come up with!
